Bird and Bat Box Project
Update 15 October 2025 This week the team embarked on an audit and clean up of all the boxes including the owl box on the 6th. The bird boxes have survived with no squirrel damage following the reinforcement of the hole plates last year. The fallen box on 6th has been re-sited and another fallen box on 13th has been sent to the Repair Shop ! We are pleased to report that nesting material was found in 11 of the boxes, appears to be blue tits /great tits as there were small eggs in 4 of the boxes. All of the bat boxes are still in place, no conclusive evidence of activity as yet. We will continue to monitor long term in the hope that we see some bats in the years to come. We were encouraged to find that once again the owl box was full of owl debris and pellets and barn owl feathers. This has been cleaned out ready for new season. For reference, a link below to an article by Dr Marie Athorn regarding golf courses supporting birds and other wildlife.
